| Oct. 12th, 2005 01:01 pm Hello! Just wanted to say hi and let folx know that I have just listed some new dress paintings on Ebay and ask a quick question.
I have a large stack of cool photos I've taken over the years. Other than the scratching and painting method does anyone have any other ideas of good ways to alter them? Can they be transferred?
Thanks in advance! 6 comments - Leave a comment

| Sep. 27th, 2005 02:38 pm I am feeling as though I may be coming to the end of the current series I am working on. I now have about nine pieces total....five larger and four smaller. This will be just the right amount for the two shows I have coming up. So now, I need to decide what to do next. In the past I have always jumped from one thing to something totally different. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. One one hand experimentation is good. I love to challenge myself in this way. On the other...I want to be able to push myself in terms of my craft. Get to the next level. I'm not sure how to keep my work cohesive and experimental at the same time. Very tricky. I am thinking I want to re-explore texture. Perhaps with oil paint. I'm not sure yet. 2 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Aug. 18th, 2005 01:46 pm So I have been working on composition lately. Its my weak spot for sure. I went thru a ton of my digital photos and found a wealth of material there...right under my nose. I have also been reading a lot about painting technique lately. I am focusing focusing focusing. I have spent a lot of time making mixed media collages and trying out printmaking and a whole bunch of other crafts and am ready to focus on painting, which is my calling. I want to learn more about my craft. I want to become an expert ya know?
Yesterday I left the studio feeling blah. I didn't like what I did. I think the composition needs to be tighter. At this point in my life I am not opposed to scraping all the paint off and starting over. I used to just keep going on top of old layers but I think that was contributing to the 'overworked' look that many of my older paintings had (at least in my opinion).
( So anyway....if you would like to see what I was working on yesterday take a peek. )
In other news I am OBSESSED with marketing. I'm really gearing up for fall. Anyone out there interested in an LJ community for art marketing? 12 comments - Leave a comment

| Aug. 16th, 2005 12:32 pm Can anyone give a recommendation for a good blogging community for artists? I'd like to do some more networking beyond LJ. Is there a network of blogs that galleries, collectors, professors, and museum folx look at? Thanks in advance! 11 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Aug. 16th, 2005 10:52 am What I did on my summer vacation. Once upon a time I made a painting of a girl. This was over 10 years ago. By chance I put her on Ebay last year and sold her right away. That buyer commissioned the following series of nine paintings which I have been working on for a lot of the summer. They are finally done! Here is a link if you would like to take a peek.

| Aug. 12th, 2005 02:45 pm Any takers? In trying to get my feet wet again with making art to sell I thought I'd ask if anyone was interested in a project I have had in the back of my mind for a while. Last year I painted a portrait of a friend ( viggie) from a picture. I thought I might ask if there were any of you out there who would like a portrait like this of yourself or a loved one. The size would be 12" x 12". It would be oil on gallery wrapped canvas with painted edges, ready to hang. I would charge on a sliding scale based on what people could afford.

| Aug. 9th, 2005 12:26 pm Hi remember me? I kept a really low profile this summer cuz I wanted to spend more time with DS. Now, as the end of summer draws near, I am looking forward to making more art, (hopefully) selling more art and generally getting inspired. I have been working on some printmaking techniques this summer and I have learned a lot. One major thing I've learned is that I will **never** be a master printmaker. And that's okay because it has been fun. I have also been working on a commission that I am going to put the finishing touches on tonight. I feel ready to cycle into something new and am not sure what. 12 comments - Leave a comment | |
